Thialf blijft zeker tot medio 2022 dé topsportlocatie van schaatsend Nederland...

Thialf in Heerenveen blijft ook de komende vijf jaar de topsportlocatie voor het schaatsen in Nederland. De KNSB en Thialf hebben hiertoe vandaag het bestaande samenwerkingscontract verlengd tot 2022.
De schaatsbond en het ijsstadion willen ook de komende jaren samen optrekken om de dominante positie van Nederland als schaatsland te waarborgen. In het vernieuwde Thialf zijn alle faciliteiten voor schaatswedstrijden, -trainingen en hospitality sterk verbeterd. Met dit state-of-the-art stadion is een internationale standaard gezet, waarmee Nederland als schaatsland weer jaren vooruit kan.
De KNSB erkent Heerenveen dan ook graag als dé schaatstopsportlocatie van Nederland. Dit betekent onder meer dat de schaatstop in Thialf traint en dat de grote (inter)nationale wedstrijden in Heerenveen worden verreden. De afspraken tussen de schaatsbond en Thialf zijn vastgelegd in een nieuw contract, dat loopt tot juni 2022.
“Wij beschouwen Thialf als dé schaatstempel van Nederland. Na de renovatie zijn alle voorzieningen nóg beter geworden”, zegt Jeroen Kraaij, manager commerciële zaken van d KNSB. “Als schaatsbond blijven we de komende jaren graag vruchtbaar samenwerken met Thialf, zowel voor de trainingen van onze topschaatsers als voor de organisatie van grote wedstrijden.”
Thialf-directeur Marc Winters: “De KNSB is onze belangrijkste klant en het is fijn om deze relatie te kunnen bestendigen. Wij zijn vooral verheugd dat de KNSB ons erkent als dé topsportlocatie voor schaatsend Nederland. Het Nieuwe Thialf is met die visie gerealiseerd en het is prettig dat de kwaliteit ervan wordt erkend.”
De renovatie van Thialf, die begin 2016 werd afgerond, was aanleiding om de bestaande afspraken nog eens onder de loep te nemen. Extra reden om dat te doen, was dat de KNSB de organisatie van grote wedstrijden uitbesteedt aan sportmarketingbureau House of Sports.

Thialf to remain the ultimate top skating location for the Netherlands until 2022
Thialf in Heerenveen will remain the top skating location in the Netherlands for the next five years. To this end, the skating association and Thialf have renewed the partnership contract until 2022.
The Royal Dutch Skating Association (Koninklijke Nederlandse Schaatsenrijders Bond, KNSB) and the ice arena want to partner up for the next few years as well, to safeguard the dominant position of the Netherlands as a successful skating country. In renovated Thialf, all facilities for skating tournaments, training and hospitality have been considerably improved. With this state-of-the-art stadium, which sets an international standard, the Netherlands is sure to prolong its prominent position as a skating country for the years ahead.
The scating association is pleased to acknowledge Heerenveen as the ultimate top skating location in the Netherlands. This also means that the top speed skaters train in Thialf and that the major national and international championships take place in Heerenveen. The agreements between the skating association and Thialf have been laid down in a new contract that will expire in June 2022.
“We consider Thialf the skating temple of the Netherlands. After the renovation, all facilities have become even better,” says Jeroen Kraaij, Commercial Affairs Manager of the KNSB. “As a skating association we look forward to continuing our fruitful partnership with Thialf in the next few years, both for training our top speed skaters and for organising big tournaments.”
Thialf Director Marc Winters: “The KNSB is our most important client, so it’s gratifying we can renew our relationship. We are particularly pleased that the KNSB recognises us as the prime top skating location for the Netherlands. New Thialf was realised on the basis of this vision, so it’s marvellous that its quality is appreciated.”
The renovation of Thialf, completed in early 2016, was an excellent occasion to review the existing agreements closely – not least because the KNSB outsources the organisation of major tournaments to sports marketing bureau House of Sports.
